TheTVObserver: Days of Our Lives Scandal

How many times is Marlena Evans and John Black going to feed viewers those annoying dramatic scenes “Oh John” and “Oh Marlena” numbers. When Stefano DiMera was still on the show, things where exciting and although Tony DiMera tried. It all went to hell when that island storyline was approved for broadcast.

Sami Brady, Kate Roberts, Jack Deveraux and Mimi Lockhart are by far the most interesting characters of Days of Our Lives . Besides, we just like how they can create drama even with worst of situations. Mimi loosing Rex because of Bonnie Lockhart’s advice was just horrible. I remember when Rex was going to town on Mimi and Bell was listening. She could not take the amount of fun Mimi was having with Rex. Did you know that Bonnie’s sexy son, Patrick Lockhart is referred to as “shirtless wonder’ in Hollywood because in almost all his scenes he is guaranteed to go shirtless.

Days of Our Lives had TV's most controversial daytime actor, Marcus Patrick. This guy made the list of TheTVObserver’s Memorable Moments but his was more like the most memorable scandal of daytime television, ever!

He was contracted to play the young and hot Jett Carver whose uncle if Abe Carver. His character was born 1985 on Days of Our Lives. He has been portrayed by Marcus Patrick since June 1, 2007 for only three months.

Notable Relatives
  • Danielle (Fiancee)
  • Theo Carver (Father; Deceased)
  • Benjamin Carver (Paternal Grandfather; Deceased)
  • Rita Carver (Paternal Grandmother; Deceased)
  • Abe Carver (Paternal Uncle)
  • Karen Carver (Paternal Aunt)
  • Jonah Carver (Paternal Uncle)
  • Brandon Walker (Paternal Cousin; Abe's with Fay Walker)
  • Theodore Brandon Carver (Paternal Cousin; Abe's with Lexie Carver)

Marcus Patrick, the actor, was born Patrick Marcus Osbourne, 5 June 1974, Bath, England. He is a British actor who has been based in the United States for several years. He has appeared in such American television series My Wife & Kids, CSI:Miami and Passions. From 29 June, until 25 September 2006 he was part of the cast of the long-running soap opera All My Children playing the role of Jamal Cudahy.

He later left AMC due to creative differences with the show. He also appeared on Just Jordan and Dancing With The Stars.

On 11 May, 2007, it was announced that he would be joining the cast of Days of Our Lives in the role of Jett Carver. His first air date was 1 June. However after five months he was fired. NBC declined to comment on the reasons for departure, and his last appearance aired on 14 November 2007.

Patrick himself has expressed the view that his dismissal was a consequence of an explicit photo shoot he completed in the September 2007 edition of Playgirl Magazine and the magazine website.

Unusual for celebrity subjects, Patrick elected to pose full frontally nude for several shots, in darkened silhouette. Although TheTVObserver has the nude pictures including some pictures which showcase Patrick’s assets through his underwear. It is not our policy to publish explicit nude shots. We can happily do shirtless but not the full frontal.

Aside from acting, Marcus Patrick has had a singing career, firstly with the boyband Worlds Apart and then as a solo career. He has also practiced Tae Kwon Do, winning championships at junior and men's heavyweight level.

The Letter by Marcus

Days of Our Lives has chosen not to renew my contract. After 3 successful months, they felt that they had no more use for my character. It was strange as my IMDB rating was the highest of anyone on their show, including Allison Sweeney!!

When I asked why it happened, I was told...."That's Show Business."

Was I disappointed? A little at first, and a bit hurt too. But with thought, I feel instead like it is a big blessing. It puts me back into the mix as a free agent. I've been busy auditioning for TV shows (Heroes and Dirty Sexy Money), and have booked a national Ross commercial. So all is good.

What is in the immediate future? i have meetings set up with the heads of Daytime TV at both CBS and ABC. There are also meetings with the executive producers of some major TV shows. I look forward to being on, or creating a show that bravely deals with the current issues of today's world and focuses on a much higher level of acting.

There were rumors running around that Days was going to terminate me due to my Playgirl Magazine cover, and also my dancing and stripping. I was told that it had nothing to do with it, but I am not sure that's true.

If you look at today's television, it is still quite behind the times as far as involving people of color. Days of Our Lives in fact now will have only one person (a black man) as their ethnic character (token). There are over 22 caucasian people on that particular show. This doesn't reflect real life. The Playgirl issue was one of the if not the most successful issues ever. It has sold at least 2 million copies and still selling (even on my website www.marcus-patrick.com), and that translates into fans, which I would have thought would boost the ratings.

I will continue to be comfortable and do nudity in filmsor other media as required. Again, it is art. Artists are here to represent and air the dirty laundry of society in both a dramatic and comedic sense so we can reflect and make change for the better and have fun at the same time

I've been often asked, "Why do I dance and strip?" I love to dance!!! It has been a great means of support financially and helps pay my expenses. Probably you all think that someone on a "soap" gets rich. Well it is not true. The pay is low and the hours are long.

It is very expensive to live in Los Angeles. I have a mortgage, taxes, agent, insurance, car payment etc. I have to be able to provide consistent means to support myself and family. I also have to make myself available to audition (which is always in the daytime). The entertainment business doesn't usually provide that so I have to do what I have to do.

I also love to dance!!! It is great cardio exercise for me. Case in point....should I pay to go to a gym to get my cardio be bored for an hour, or should I dance at night and get paid!!! (ha ha)...you figure it out!

I have been questioned about my fan base by many. I get questioned all the time about my own sexuality. I dance at gay bars, and also for women at The Hollywood Men (www.hwmen.com). I attract a huge multi cultural and multi sexual fan base. But back the question at hand.....I am a free being and I could care less what a person does in their bedroom as long as they treat me with respect. I love all people the same. We are exactly as Mother Nature intended us to be. As long as you respect and don't hurt other people we're fine.

In closing, I am a humanitarian. I rescued Michelle Maylene from the porn business and she is my girlfriend/fiancee and she is the best partner I have ever had. You can write to Michelle at www.myspace.com/michellemaylene and see her interviews and views.

I hope you will all continue your unconditional support for me and I always try to "BE THE CHANGE IN THE WORLD YOU WISH TO SEE."

Much Love,
Marcus

I think Marcus has the right to do what he wants. But he should have known better than to push the envelope this far. He was by our standards a good addition to a show such as Days of Our Lives. As a black handsome male character, but I believe that he went too far.

Days of Our Lives is a family show and he should have understood that before going all free spirit on his public personality. This fiasco led to NBC completely destroying any link to the character Marcus played on the show, including references on the public encyclopedic database. It’s as if they really do not want anything to do with him. After two years not much has been going on in his television career.

I applaud you for being who you are. Not many people would give up what you gave up because of their beliefs. I love that you allow people to be who they are. I was always a fan, now I believe that I must be one of your biggest fans (and by the way, I live in LA and we aren't very often star struck). All things considered, you are my hero. Continued success to you and your beautiful girlfriend.
